BYOK means you connect your own AI API keys (OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini). Your keys are stored securely on your device and never sent to our servers. This gives you full control over your AI usage and costs.

Yes! Since documents are stored locally on your device, you can access and search your materials offline. AI chat features require an internet connection to reach your configured AI provider.

What file formats can I upload?

Subjectly supports PDF documents, Microsoft Word files (.doc, .docx), plain text files (.txt), Markdown files (.md), spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls), and presentations (.pptx, .ppt).

What is the maximum file size?

The maximum file size is 10MB per document. Since processing happens on your device, larger files may take longer to process depending on your device's capabilities.

How does the AI understand my documents?

When you add a document, Subjectly extracts the text locally on your device, breaks it into meaningful chunks, and creates semantic embeddings for search. When you ask questions, relevant chunks are sent to your configured AI provider to generate accurate, contextual answers.

Where are my API keys stored?

Your API keys are stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). They are encrypted and never transmitted to Subjectly servers. Only your device uses them to communicate directly with AI providers.

What is the Studio feature?

Studio allows you to generate study materials from your documents, including executive briefings, flashcards, and quizzes. It's a great way to transform your learning materials into interactive study aids.
